Anyone not renewed stops originating on January 1, and the way back is priced by the state: Texas at 150% of the renewal fee, Ohio $150, and fourteen agencies with no reinstatement at all. Payna works the window all year so no one gets here.

- December 31 is the end of the window, not your deadline
At least eleven states set an MLO renewal deadline earlier than December 31, and fourteen offer no reinstatement at all. What each state actually requires, and why a missed renewal means two unrelated things depending on whether your originators are licensed or registered.
- Is there an NMLS API?
No, and nothing on the roadmap through 2029 adds one. What you can actually pull today, for free, and why it is not what you wanted.
- The MLO renewal window is eight weeks. The work is not.
Renewal runs November 1 to December 31, but a roster that starts on November 1 is already late. What has to be true before anyone can file.
- An MLO who arrives licensed still cannot originate for you
The license moves with the originator. The sponsorship does not, and it is the sponsorship that decides whether a new hire can take an application.
