A state licence is permission from one state agency to do one regulated activity in that state. The agency differs, the name of the licence differs, and the requirements differ, so a page that opens "the mortgage lender licence requires a surety bond" is already wrong in two of the three states here.

Filings mostly run through NMLS, which the state agencies use as a shared pipe rather than as the source of the rules. The rules stay in each state's statute and administrative code, which is where every figure in this section comes from. Where a source states nothing, these pages say so.

Insurance

Which states open a temporary adjuster path after a declared disaster, who carries the filing obligation, how long the authority runs, and whether the adjuster can start before the paperwork lands. All fifty states and the District of Columbia.

How this is sourced

Every figure traces to a statute section, an administrative rule or a document published by the agency that issues the licence, linked where it is used. Where a state publishes its own checklist we read the statute as well, because the checklist is downstream of it and the two sometimes disagree.

Requirements change without notice, so treat the date on each page as its shelf life. Nothing here is legal advice, and none of it replaces confirming a figure with the regulator before you rely on it. If a row is wrong, tell us at licensing@payna.com.
